Pantone Color Institute, the leading authority for color trends and systems, has released its palette of ten colors for Spring 2017 and its looking like earthier and more grounded tones are coming back into play. After last year’s hushed duo of Rose Quartz and Serenity sharing center stage for color of the year, the colors for 2017 appear darker and with more depth to their color range. Assembled after New York Fashion Week and based on runway popularity, this trending collection will offer welcome and friendly accents for interior tones.

With luscious watery blues recalling the ocean, and bright pops of orange, yellow, fuchsia pinks and celery greens like tropical flowers and foliage, 2017 is promising to feel like a retro island paradise. Rounding out the palette is the soft pinkish neutral hazelnut and its pastel counterpart pale dogwood, the overall palette feels vibrant, and yet natural. Leatrice Eisman, Executive Director of the Pantone Institute, describes the palette as a “mixture of vitality, relaxation and the great outdoors.” She also noted that she felt the new color combinations exhibited “a renewed  sense of imagination” being both “playful and precise.”
